The internetworked binary Polling Syndication Protocol, or ib-PSP for short, is the fourth subprotocol of the internetworked binary master protocol. It provides mechanisms for performing qualitative syndication of light data, such as repositories and media, from various sources on a network such as the Worldwide Web. It is comparable in function to the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol in that it uses a proactive polling approach to achieve syndication, although it is completely application-agnostic, unlike SMTP. It is also a loose counterpart of the ib-AP, which disseminates heavy data.
